Iceland in July: What to Expect
July is Iceland's undisputed peak month. Days are longest, temperatures highest, F-roads fully open, puffin colonies at maximum activity, and the midnight sun still burning. It is also the busiest and most expensive month of the year — popular campsites fill to capacity, the best rental 4x4s were bo

Iceland in June and July: The Midnight Sun Peak
June and July are Iceland's peak season for good reason: the weather is at its best, the days are infinite, puffins are at peak nesting activity, and every road in the country (including most F-roads) is open. The midnight sun means golden-hour light at 2am and 10pm simultaneously. The highland inte

Iceland in Summer: Midnight Sun and Peak Season Guide
Iceland in summer is a completely different country from Iceland in winter — not just in weather and daylight but in character. The landscape turns green almost overnight as snow retreats in May. Puffins arrive in their millions. F-roads open, unlocking the highland interior. The sun refuses to set,

Vigur Island: Puffins, Arctic Foxes, and Westfjords Solitude
Vigur Island: A Working Farm in the Westfjords Vigur Island, located in Ísafjörður's harbor, is home to about 10 residents who maintain traditional Icelandic farming practices. The 1.6-square-kilometer island features a restored turf-roofed farmhouse from the 18th century, still used as a residential dwelling. Visitors can walk marked trails around the island's perimeter, observing Arctic terns, puffins, and other seabirds during breeding season. The island's small heritage museum documents local fishing and sheep-herding traditions. A restored windmill from 1882 operates seasonally. Ferries depart from Ísafjörður harbor several times weekly, with a journey time of approximately 15 minutes. The island remains accessible only by boat, with basic amenities available. Summer visits offer the longest daylight hours for exploration.
